TABLETOP TWITTER

Social media surrounds our students.
And so the importance of developing
digital citizenship is an ongoing task
for educators.

This week our students explored
the elements of "TWITTER" without
even picking up a device.

Students discussed their favorite books
to recommend to their friends.

Then they had to compose a written
endorsement limited to the 140 characters
of TWITTER guidelines.

It became a writing practice exercise
in editing.

We discussed the comparison of "TWITTER" to a megaphone - in that each post
 is an announcement to the public.
