More Reading and Writing in the Library....
Our Super Hero Bible minutes this week touched on the story of Elisha and the
Shunammite woman. This lady's display of kindness and generosity was inspirational.
So for our older readers, we took some time to read aloud and discuss some picture books
with the same theme.
Sharing these stories triggered some interesting responses in our 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th graders.
To capture their responses in a way that mirrored the "circle story" pattern, we wrote fold over
stories. Each student added their idea of what would happen next to keep the kindness going.
And in "Because Amelia Smiled" - the students were surprised to find out that the book had been
dedicated to them with an encouragement to "Pass it on!" We'll be watching for random acts of
kindness around campus.
